RESONANCE  -  FMP

Caught within scriptures long since told and forgotten, our hero is found drifting amidst a hollow space. Grasping for any semblance of footing or respite, their hand meets one of the many books, and as the pages begin to violently flicker and open, the book snaps shut - alone.

Join our unsung hero as they adventure through scripts and plays, books and thesis alike to survive in this world, and return to where they belong. Use Finesse to guide your path, and your weapons to carve it, but be careful of the play - for every Tragedy has a fall.

Controls

  • ESC, J OR Tab - Open Pause Menu
  • R, I or G - Open Inventory
  • WASD or Arrow Keys - Movement
  • Space - Jump

As of now, Finesse, the three circles below Health, doesn't have any current implementation.

NOTE, there is an issue with the WebGL, the Inventory Pickup system became broken from the build transition, this should be fixed in the downloadable version.

Concepts

Below are the ideated concepts that weren't able to make it into the Prototype as per the result of technical issues found within the development phases of my Final Major Project. If development were to continue, and the Prototype were to be expanded into a fully-fledged game, the below ideation would be potential mechanics to be implemented in such.

Style Meter

Following suit with titles with similar implementation, the player will have to apply variation and strategy in their attacks, playing at a more aggressive pace to maximize on the bonuses granted by higher rankings. Actions such as narrowly dodging an attack or rebounding an opponent's projectile with your own bullet rewards you Style Points which'd accumulate into a Rank increase at a certain threshold, strengthening your character and unrestricting their potential.


Card System

To further apply another unique layer to combat, I’ll be potentially adding forth a Card System,  in which players can cast special abilities from their hand for unique effects. Drawing from the deck requires a resource, Finesse, gained through attacking, with the strength of these cards being based off the player’s Style Ranking to provide more advanced options.

Grid Inventory

To renovate on my Inventory System, a mechanic overdone throughout the industry, I’ll be restricting the player by limiting their storage capabilities, forcing players into taking decisions and managing their brought equipment for maximum efficiency. Unlike my Prototype's inventory, this will not be based on maximum items held but rather based on the storage of the player's backpack, adding an extra strategic element to gameplay.
